About Me
Dr. Shantanu, Director , Ashoka University Library is a highly accomplished professional with extensive expertise in library science, knowledge management, and related fields such as healthcare management. Before joining Ashoka, he was affiliated with NIMS University, where he held multiple leadership roles, including Professor of Business Communication and Digital Marketing for MBA and BBA students, Director of the NIMS School of Business, and Director of the Knowledge Resource Center, overseeing 11 libraries.
Previously, he served as the Chief Librarian at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where he managed central and branch libraries, established satellite libraries, and handled significant budget allocations. His expertise in library and information management also includes his tenure as a Fellow and Area Convenor at TERI’s Knowledge Management Division, as well as Chief Librarian roles at institutions like Indus World School of Business (IWSB), the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow (IIM-L), Voluntary Health Association of India (VHAI), the University of Delhi, and IILM University. Throughout his career, he has been instrumental in digitization initiatives, library establishment, service management, and promotional event organization.
Shantanu holds a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, an MBA in Marketing, an M.Sc. in Ecology and Environmental Sciences, and a Ph.D. in Information Service Marketing, awarded in 2010. Additionally, he earned a D.Litt in Knowledge Management from Thames International University, Paris, and an Advanced Certification in Healthcare Management from the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad. His research contributions include numerous government and internationally funded projects, supervision of Ph.D. candidates, and the organization of six editions of the International Conference on Digital Landscape (ICDL). His extensive body of work includes research papers, books, articles, and patents. Recognized globally for his contributions, he has received prestigious awards, including the Bonnie Hilditch International Science and Technology Librarian Award (USA, 2010) and the Roll of Honor in Service Excellence from TERI.
